Maine Community Integration

Opportunities for discovery for young people and their families.

We believe in the capability of youth to overcome the struggles they face every day.

What We Do

Through our nature-driven social advocacy programs, we equip immigrant girls and other young people, along with the families and communities that support them, with the skills and resources to raise their voices, access equal opportunities, and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

To best meet the needs of those in our community, we also offer educational programs on preventing child abuse, exploitation and trafficking.

As a complement to our direct work with youth, MCI offers cultural sensitivity trainings and education to community partners such as schools, hospitals, law enforcement, organizations and others.

Who We Serve

We serve both new and long-standing residents of Lewiston-Auburn by bridging gaps to create positive social and systemic change.

MCI is committed to ensuring that all youth have equal opportunity to participate in our programs regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. While we are focused on New Mainer girls who are at risk of social exclusion and harm due to poverty, deprivation, and mental health issues, we encourage and welcome involvement of youth from all sectors of the community.

Programs

Maine Community Integration empowers New Mainer girls and their families through a variety of social education and systems advocacy programs.

Testimonials

“MCI has truly become
family to my family.”

My daughters began participating in Maine Community Integration (MCI) programs through Isku-Fialn (Strong Girls), now MCI’s flagship. I have since joined the MCI Parents Leadership Program, my son is in the Thrive4Higher program, and my husband attends the monthly community education programs. Our entire family has benefited greatly from MCI’s unique approach.

Today, my oldest daughter is in her first year of college. MCI has truly become family to my family. I am forever grateful for their commitment and the positive impact they’ve had on my family’s life.

“A remarkable team dedicated to supporting and uplifting youth from diverse backgrounds.”

As a Youth Coordinator for Maine Community Integration, I had the honor of working alongside a remarkable team dedicated to supporting and uplifting youth from diverse backgrounds. Seeing youth develop their resilience was deeply inspiring and reaffirmed my belief in the immense potential of every young person to create positive change in their communities.

I also had opportunities to collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community leaders. These partnerships not only enrich the programs we offer but also strengthen our ability to network and advocate for the needs of our youth.
